What to Expect

On this trip, you’ll go through the south of Morocco in order to discover the endless sand dunes of Erg Chebbi, one of the most fascinating Sahara seas. Over four days of adventure, you will stay in different beautiful guest houses and you will enjoy breathtaking views and spectacular landscapes, without forgetting the hidden oases reminding us of Arabian nights

During this trip, you will travel through the gorgeous green valley and vast desert. You will also have the chance to sleep under the stars and enjoy the night atmosphere.

Itinerary

Day 1From Marrakech to Skoura and Dades valley.

Today we will pick you up from your accommodation in Marrakech early in the morning in order to drive to Skoura via the spectacular Tizi n’Tichka which represents one of the highest drivable passes in Morocco. Along our way, we will follow the beautiful road that will lead us through the gorgeous green valleys and then to the vast desert. while in Skoura we will stop for a lunch break amongst the beautifully endless ancient Kasbahs and pals. After the break, it is now time to pass through the valley of Roses and the thousand kasbahs of Dades Valley where you will spend a calm and relaxing night in a Berber guest house.

Day 2From Dades Valley to Todra Gorge and Erg Chebbi

We will start our journey with the discovery of the Sahara, on our way to it we will pass through the spectacular Todra Gorge, where we will have the chance to visit the Oasis Museum in Tinejdad. This museum is actually a group of three restored houses displaying Berber antiquities and objects of purely traditional use which are collected from various tribes across the country. After reaching Merzouga you will meet your camel and then begin an unforgettable tour witnessing the amazing sunset while riding to a nomadic camp in the middle of the sand dunes. After your arrival at the camp, you will be served a tasty traditional Berber meal and then invited to some local tribal singing and drumming around the campfire.

Day 3From Erg Chebbi to Draa Valley and Ouarzazate.

Today you should not miss the glorious sunrise over the huge eastern dunes, you will then meet your camel again and ride out of the Sahara. It is now time to say goodbye to your camel in Merzouga so we can drive back to Ouarzazate also known as Moroccan Hollywood. Along our way, you will have the chance to pass through the beautiful Draa Valley famous for its richness in seams of fossils. You will have the opportunity to spend the night in a beautiful hotel in Ouarzazate.

Day 4From Ouarzazate to Ait Ben Haddou and Marrakech.

Today is the last day of our journey to the discovery of Southern Morocco. In the morning we will have a short drive from Ouarzazate to Kasbah Ait Ben Haddou, where you will enjoy lunch on one of the restaurants with terraces overlooking the amazing ancient settlement. This spot is listed as a UNESCO world heritage and it served as a filming location for many famous Hollywood movies such as Gladiator, The Mummy, and more recently the famous series Game of Thrones. After our lunch break, we will continue our road along the scenic roads of the High Atlas, and once again we will cross the Tizi n’Tichka pass on our way back to Marrakech.

I'm a solo traveller, is there a single supplement?

Yes, solo travellers are welcome on this tour. All of our trips are private and tailor-made, so the price depends on the size of your party rather than being fixed per person. Send us your preferred dates and we will send you a quote for one traveller.

Which currency is most widely accepted on this tour?

The Moroccan dirham (MAD) is the local currency and the only one accepted for everyday purchases such as meals, souks and tips. It is a closed currency, so you exchange on arrival rather than beforehand — there are bureaux de change at the airports and in every city we visit, and ATMs are widely available. Euros, pounds and dollars are sometimes accepted in tourist shops and larger hotels, but usually at a poor rate. Card payments work in hotels and larger restaurants; carry cash for markets, rural stops and the desert.

Should I book pre/post tour accommodation?

The nights that fall inside the tour itself are included. Nights before it starts or after it ends are not, so if you are arriving the evening before or flying home late, tell us when you book and we can usually add those nights at the same riad or hotel rather than leaving you to arrange them separately. Most travellers coming in on a long-haul flight prefer to arrive a day early and start the tour rested.

What is cancellation policy?

Your booking is confirmed with a non-refundable 25% deposit of the total tour cost. The cancellation terms that apply to the remaining balance are set out in full in our Terms and Conditions, which we ask you to read before booking. If your plans change, contact us as early as you can and we will tell you exactly where you stand and what can be moved or rescheduled.
